grilledmeats are the order of the day here! In addition to beef, chicken,
pork, etc., there is also the opportunity to sample two game meats: crocodile
(which tastes like tough, white-meat chicken!) and eland, the largest antelope
in Kenya. (We'd describe the taste as a cross between beef and venison)

Nairobi
has many restaurants offering a variety of cuisine. We recommend dinner or
lunch at the Carnivore that is famous for its succulent stew and barbecue
dishes as an excellent complement to a holiday in Kenya, especially as a welcome
or farewell dinner.
The
food is cooked -- quite dramatically -- on large skewers around an open flame
at the entrance to the restaurant. The servers then bring the skewers right
to your plate. The restaurant seems to have a sense of humor about itself,
too. Each table has a small flag on it, and they tell you to knock the flag
over when you're ready to surrender, and then the servers will pass you by.
The
price includes transfers to and from Nairobi or the airport.
